I am answering you in the correct comment box and it has a more official 'log' to my comment.I have ben SO BUSY sorry to have only done this now.
As I have stated all instruments could be perceived as 'posh' I suppose if you look at it in that way.It is a misconception really as music is about communication and really liking something by getting used to hearing it i.e.classical music is not really to do with intellectual or educational prowess or even superiority. It ia simply about appreciation through familiarity. Start with say a Mozart overture.like The Magic Flute for example, and get to know it.Hear it lots. I can assure you it is wonderful.
As I have stated above in the Newsletter, I do not think that pushing children ever works. encouragement and enthusiasm are the best things always for parents to convey to their children. It is never too late to begin lessons Dave. There are plenty of people who like nothing better than to coach enthusiastic adult would be musicians.Let me know how you get on with Mozart and further thoughts on playing the cello.Clare Denizhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15468755401250054184noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-342132078914250838.post-74866567707507100852010-02-18T13:38:07.132-08:002010-02-18T13:38:07.132-08:00I always wanted to learn Cello. I know my friend's son was learning with Grade Music Tutors and other teachers and his mates thought he was a bit of a 'toff' for learning a 'posh' instrument. They all would rather play football.
I guess having a pushy parent helps.Dave Robertshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16916628666474840423noreply@blogger.com
